too many fiestas

favorite bands

I have a pretty great end of the year lined up in terms of music. within a month, I'll be seeing live at least these bands:

that's a pretty interesting mix, to be honest. blur and the cure are playing at the same festival, then pulp is doing a show on their own which is going to be fantastic. unknown mortal orchestra was a very pleasant surprise (i saw them live in 2016 and it was one of my favorite concerts of all time) and then american football was also a really nice surprise for my little emo soul.

however you me at six is the best of all of these. why? because you me at six is one of my favorite bands of all time, and they had never played in latin america, where I live. all the other bands, I've either seen them live, or they've been to LATAM before. so I was really excited when I heard YMAS would be touring around here.

However... this can't all come easy! They had to skip Argentina from the list of countries because they couldn't get a venue. I get it: the inflation is really tough and they would have to sell the tickets at a price no one would be ready to pay in order to make some profit. It's understandable. So I decided to take the chance and got a ticket to see them in Santiago de Chile. I bought my plane ticket with air miles I had been saving for a special trip and I'm staying at a friend's house.

I am mostly excited because I was ready for a challenge and this is the first time I'm seeing a band live in another country. I doesn't sound like a lot, but it is much like a triumph to me. I'm fighting to see this band, to give back what they've given me all these years.

Still, I'm doing my homework and catching up on some of the records I didn't listen to in the past years because I initially wasn't so interested. But I'm looking forward to the end of the year, really. We'll have a terrific time.
